Notes on the pictures:
In the six weeks since we left, construction crews have shored up the curved entry, and built the two large scaffolds in the center of the atrium, as well as the scaffold where the façade once was. The fire truck you see hosing down the building, was supporting the removal of the I beams from the American Express building pictures toward the end. Workers in a crane cage were cutting small pieces from the beam with a torch, while another crane removed the cut piece, and the fire truck hosed off the building below as the hot embers fell into it.
The truss we came back to remove, approx 50 square, had only three sides remaining, losing the front of house section (one side fell, the other was cut in order to remove it). The independent front of house truss which had hung basically where the big hole is in the ceiling, was gone.
Also, most buildings in the immediate area which are still standing but have façade damage have been screened off probably to prevent further damage from debris at the site, so that is why some pictures are through either the scaffold or the screen.
Sorry the navigation is slow, awkward, and rough on the edges; with so many pictures I just wanted to get them up on line first, and Ill make it pretty in a couple of weeks. If you dont have high speed access, Im not sure I would bother.
I dont claim to be a photographer, and the fisheye lens wasnt working as well as I would have liked since it wasnt possible to use a tripod, and you can see me trying out a more than once on the same shot with different exposures.
Anyone who would like the full size version, email me with the number, and I'll send it to you.
